Welcome to The Rotary Club of Coimbatore

The Rotary Club of Coimbatore is one of the pioneers in India of the rotary movement, devoted to the ideal of Fellowship through service. It was inaugurated on 23 May 1943 by H.E. Sir Authour Hope, the then Governor of Madras. The Club was formally admitted into the Rotary International by charter on 21 June 1945.

Solving real problems takes real commitment and vision, and for more than 75 years, Rotary Club of Coimbatore members have used their passion, energy, and intelligence to take action on sustainable projects. From literacy and peace to water and health, we are always working to better our world, and we stay committed to the end.

a 75 year Heritage

The Rotary Club of Coimbatore has for the last 75 years been led by the Stalwarts of our City such as Rtn Diwan Bahadur CS Rathanasabapathy Mudaliar, Rtn GD Naidu, Rtn  TT Rathinasabapathy Pillai, and Rtn Nanjundaiah who played a vital role in not just the formation of our Club, but also in shaping and development of the city of Coimbatore.

Welcome from the President

My Dear fellow Rotarians,

One Vision, One Voice and Many hearts. This is the essence of Rotary Club of Coimbatore, a club with a rich culture, robust spirit and a prestigious legacy of past presidents who have made this city of Coimbatore, a vibrant economy. Now as the club enters its 77th year of exemplary service, it is a huge privilege and honour for me to embark on the role of President.

I take this moment to thank the leaders, fellow Rotarians & my family who enabled me to sustain the interest & passion for 32 long years in our club. Specially acknowledge the team of 20-21 who put me on the pedestal of President of this prominent club. I’m truly inspired to work with each one of you.

Over the next 12 months, we will continue to build on our strengths, but also take on new directions, steering our intentions to align with the RI Presidential theme of 20-21 – “Rotary Opens Opportunities”. According to RI president Holger Knaack, “Rotary is not just a club that you join. It is an invitation to endless opportunities. It opens opportunities to serve in a project big or small“.

We look forward to a fruitful journey with a clear cut goal & execution plan in all the 5 avenues of service of Rotary. Club Administration, Membership development, Service Projects, Public Image & Rotary Foundation which paves way for very many opportunities for us not only to develop good friendship, serve the needy, recognize vocational excellence, promote youth power, and also International understanding and friendship.

With regard to YES projects, as per Rtn. Jose Chacko, District Governor’s focus area, on Youth, Environment & Shelter, we have kick started in style by providing 36 bicycles to school going 9th & 10th standard boys and girls at 2 Government rural schools & at our adopted tribal village school students. We vouch for more projects covering Youth, Environment & Shelter, all through the year. With regard to Rotary India Priorities, a perfect blend, covering all 8 verticals of Rotary India is planned.

Of course there are many challenges ahead due to unprecedented pandemic times. But a clear vision, a forward  looking team and a glorious legacy is all we have to turn a new page.

Thank you all.

President 2020-21.
